September retail turnover rose 10.4% in value and 7.7% in volume year on year. A prospective tenant needs a street-level sales estimate to set a rent limit.
A landlord points to rising sales when proposing a rent increase. The latest Cyprus retail figures give that conversation a starting point. They cannot tell you how many people walked through this particular door.
What the two increases measure
On 2 November, CYSTAT reported that retail turnover excluding motor vehicles rose 10.4% in value in September 2026 against September 2025. At constant prices the increase was 7.7%. The first figure measures receipts at current prices. The second adjusts for price changes. Neither measures shop rents or counts customers.

From the till to a rent budget
For an existing shop, ask for comparable months of in-store takings and separate online sales that do not depend on the address. Deduct the cost of goods, staffing, utilities and other operating costs. What remains has to cover both the premises and a margin for the operator.
Visit at the hours you will trade
For a vacant unit, count passers-by and entries to comparable shops during a weekday and a weekend trading period. Estimate how many purchases the proposed rent requires on a slow day. A national rise in turnover offers a useful comparison once you have built that local estimate.
